Dr. J. Regan Thomas and Andrea Stevenson view the Virtual Nose model in May 2005.
For her thesis in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Science, Andrea Stevenson created a virtual reality model of the structures of a typical male Caucasian nose to match an exisiting otolaryngological model. The components of the model were the upper lateral, lower lateral, and quadrangular cartilages of the nose, the skull and nasal bones and the periosteum and mucoperichondrium. She used three methods to create these models- traditional sculpture, data from the Visible Human Project, and creation of components entirely in the computer.
